Medication Entry

Med Entry: Basic

Entering Resident Medications in ResiDex allows you to maintain an electronic record of each resident's medications, making either paper-based or E-Charting medications quick and easy.  Entering medications will also allow ResiDex to automatically pull medication lists into key reports.

This document outlines entry of a basic medication, but we also have documentation on how to:

Med Entry: Basic Simplified

Entering Resident medications in ResiDex allows users to maintain a digital record of resident medications, simplifies documentation of administration (either on paper MAR or by E-Charting), and allows users to easily include medication lists into a number of helpful reports.

Med Entry: As Needed

Entering As Needed or "PRN" Medications into a resident's medication list will allow users to track and document those administrations. As Needed medications can be charted through the EMAR system in RTasks.  They will also appear on numerous paper-based report options, including "Resident Current Medications," "As Needed Med Admin (incl. Response)," "As Needed Pain Med (incl. Response)," and many more.

Med Entry: Complex

Some medications have dosages that vary day-to-day. In ResiDex, we call these "Complex Medications." A few examples of complex medications would include:

  • A medication given at varying dosages on certain days and a different dose on other days
  • A medication given a certain dosages on a rotating basis (every 2, 3, 4, etc. days)
  • A medication that is given at a specified dosage schedule and also the same or different dose "as needed"

For all of these examples, the medication will be entered twice into the Resident Medication screen.

Med Entry: Monthly

Medications, at times, are ordered to be given monthly on a specified day of the month.  Residex med entry can accommodate this requirement.

Med Entry: Sliding Scale

Sliding Scale Insulin entry and documentation can be easily done in Residex.

Reordering Meds in Desktop Residex

ResiDex offers the ability to enter and track medications to be reordered and generate a medication reorder form that can easily be faxed to the pharmacy. The medications are grouped by pharmacy and then by resident.

Med Entry: Med Set

Medication Sets in ResiDex will allow you to create one or more "groups" or "sets" of medications that can quickly be entered for any resident.  Once the medication sets have been created a user can use the "Med Set" option to quickly enter the group of medications.
